Dental technology is always improving, and at Urgent Dental Care of New Hampshire, we are pleased to incorporate high-tech tools in our daily practice.
We want to make sure your experience in the dental chair is as comfortable as possible. It not only makes treatment easier, but it often means less time in the dental chair.
Read on for a mini tour about the technology we use to make your time in our office as pleasant as it can be.
Digital Radiographs and Panoramic X-Rays
Dental x-rays have been around for years, and now with digital radiographs, they are safer and more accurate than ever before.
Enhancement of the x-rays so your doctor can see a higher level of detail is easy—and instant. They are also easy to email to specialists and insurance companies, which can mean you don’t have to wait as long for recommended treatment.
A panoramic x-ray makes one flat image of your entire mouth so your dentist can see everything necessary in one shot, including your teeth, jaw, temporomandibular joints, and nasal and sinus areas. The flat image provides a different perspective of your mouth, giving your dentist a full view for analysis.
Although digital radiographs and panoramic x-rays are invaluable, there are still limitations as to what they enable your dentist to view.
The intraoral camera is an excellent complement to x-rays. It is tiny—just about the size of a dental mirror—and fits comfortably in the mouth. Your dentist will be able to see even the smallest nooks and crannies of your mouth with an intraoral camera.
As with x-rays, information can be emailed to specialists or your insurance company quickly and accurately. Your dentist can also show you exactly what is on the computer screen to help educate you about any dental conditions you might be experiencing.
Treating minor gum issues is more gentle than ever with laser dentistry. No scalpel means less bleeding and faster healing.
Technology for Patient Comfort
We know that some people are just plain anxious when it comes to visiting the dentist, and we understand that. It is the reason we are pleased to offer our patients the following comforts:
- Digital impressions that provide better accuracy without the goop
- Digital records that provide accurate, up-to-date information
- Oral sedation medications to make any treatment more relaxing
- Quieter electric hand pieces to minimize dental office sounds
Root canals are probably one of the most feared of all dental procedures, but root canals today are easier than ever. This common dental procedure is not much different than getting a filling.
Rotary instruments make it easy for your dentist to remove all infection from the tooth root. These electronic tips also make reinfection less likely. One-visit root canals are the norm with this modern dentistry tool.
3-D Cone Beam Scan (CT)
Dental cone beam computed tomography (CT) is a special type of x-ray equipment used when regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. We may use this technology to produce three-dimensional (3-D) images of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways, and bone in a single scan. These images enable us to make more precise treatment plans.
